To stiffen the board as much as possible, avoid rebound effects between the rear foot and front foot, and maintain dumping efficiency, the Flying Machine is equipped with a range of features:

• High-performance dropstitching, significantly stiffer than basic PVC.
• A consistent thickness to eliminate any excess flex and improve rigidity.
• A construction completed by various carbon inserts (stringers, band and plate, rigid tail rail, etc.) for better lateral blocking, better water release and to avoid vortex effects.

The results are very similar to those of a rigid boat, with an easy start to planning, saintly behavior and good performance on course.

The foil mounting base is equipped with two standard rails, so that as many foils as possible can be fitted to the board.

The handles have been multiplied to make carrying easier, but also to make it easier to climb back onto this thick board.

FRONT/REAR FOOT STIFFNESS

This makes the board as rigid as possible, prevents bouncing between the rear and front feet and maintains dumping efficiency. We opted for the best, most expensive dropstitch, the one we use on our Performance paddle boards.

Our boards are built with high-density, double-skin fusion woven dropstitch. This braided dropstitch is much stiffer than basic PVC. The fibers tense up when inflated and lock the board in place, like the cables that hold suspension bridges together. This dropstitch also offers the highest thread count per cm² available on the market today (high density).

We've increased the beam effect by producing all our boards in 6 ". It's an exponential: gaining 2" in thickness means gaining a lot of rigidity.

We also boost this construction with two carbon stringers, for unrivalled stiffness. When inflated, we reach the carbon's elastic limit, which locks in the board's flex. These two carbon stringers alone account for 10% of the board's price, so they're by no means a gimmick.

We have therefore removed the flex from the Board

FOIL LOCKING

Removing the flex from the board wasn't enough. It turned out that the foil moved in the water when in use. This defect is even worse than a flex that isn't blocked: it destroys the capabilities of the foil, which can't function properly and becomes vicious, delaying the start on schedule and performance in flight and on course. This foil movement is generated by the foil's pressure and lever arm, which creates a translation between the top and bottom skins, if not crushing. In fact, the foil slides in all four axes, and the mast does not retain its vertical position.

We solved this problem by using a high-density Dropstich with crossed and oblique rather than vertical wires. In this way, we locked in translational movements.

We've completed this result by adding another carbon strip in the width, under the carbon plate, which helps with lateral blocking.

We've got the foil locked in place, very close to a rigid, so that it's easy to start on the plan, behaves well and performs well on course.

SCHEDULE DEPARTURE

We've greatly improved our performance thanks to the points mentioned above, but also with the addition of a rigid rail at the tail, which cleans up water outflow and avoids vortex effects.

TOUCHETTES

We've found the ideal compromise between enough scoop to forgive the occasional dabble without overly disrupting the schedule at the outset.

POLYVALENCE

We decided to keep the standard two-rail foil attachment system, so as to be able to fit as many foils as possible on our boards.

We've multiplied the number of handles to make carrying easier, but also to make it easier to climb back onto this thick board.

We keep our boards wide, as inflatable boards are less stable than rigid ones.

This 9'9 for 24" and 4", 70-liter board is designed for riders who have mastered foiling.
